Dominionism is about the loss of choices. Battles are underway to take away our choices from how we conceive children to how we die. This is done through abstinence only sex education which is being imposed on African countries as well as on our own youth, resulting in the withholding of condoms and other simple forms of birth control.
Abortion is about choice, and the U.S. Congress is chipping away at women's reproductive freedom through legislation. Advocates of a woman's right to choose don't say women have to have an abortion. They just believe women should have the choice.
Oregon's Death with Dignity Law is also about choice. Established by the voters of Oregon, the law allows some terminally ill patients the choice of seeking physician-assisted suicide. The Bush administration fought that law all the way to the Supreme Court. The Oregon law was upheld by one vote. more
And then there's Terri Schiavo, a woman who had been in a persistent vegetative state for the better part of fifteen years. Both Congress and the President interrupted their vacations to fly to Washington and pass midnight legislation aimed at extending her life. The courts didn't support their legislation, and, at the request of her husband, the feeding tube was removed. The Schiavo matter shows that our country still has an independent judiciary.
Censorship in the form of huge fines to TV networks for so-called "indecency violations" are part of an overall effort to control our sexuality. This includes efforts to criminalize gay sex, even consensual sex in the privacy of one's own home.
